Frequently Asked Questions
ABOUT UNITED KINGDOM
Where did the name United Kingdom come from?
The name United Kingdom is a result of the 2008 merger of two churches located in Bridgeport CT, Gethsemane Church of Christ and Kingdom Builders Ministries. The church leaders objective is to do greater works in the Kingdom by the bringing together of all resources. We encourage other places of worshp to do the same.
Does United Kingdom Church have any affiliation with United Kingdom Churches in England?
There is no connection between our church and United Kingdom Churches England. We are a non-denominational church that practices all principles of word of God.
Being a non-denominational Christian church simply means that we are not a member of a particular denomination such as Baptist, Lutheran, Roman Catholic, Methodist, etc. Being non-denominational does not mean that we are anti-denominational or practice a different type of religion. United Kingdom attracts people and families who simply believe in the Bible for answers to all of life’s questions. The emphasis of the teaching, prayer, worship services, and our entire ministry is to provide hope to all people of all ages by pointing them towards a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
What's United Kingdom really like?
A number of words come to mind in answer to that question. Words that fit United Kingdom would be laid-back, authentic, biblical, spiritual filled, diverse, caring, contemporary, committed, and evangelical. Some words that would not fit United Kingdom would be traditional, intolerant, liberal, sexist, legalistic, inflexible, or fundamentalist.
What are the people like?
United Kingdom Church is diverse. The church resembles, to a great degree the community of which it is a part. There are a number of young and older families, and singles. There are people from different racial and ethnic backgrounds. Many of us have problems, challenges and all the rest that comes with living. What is significantly different is that the people who make up the church are on a journey toward becoming passionately devoted followers of Jesus Christ. Some are further along in that journey than others.
What is United Kingdom's worship like?
The focus of our worship is seeking God's presence through the experience of authentic worship. We love to bask in the Glory of God so to let God have his way such that yolks are broken and people are set free.
What is the preaching like?
The Sunday morning teaching is an integration of biblical exposition and application. The ultimate aim of this teaching is to show how God can help in day to day living. Our leaders, Bishop Lloyd and Senior Pastor Ken Smith alternate preaching on Sundays and Wednesdays. Bishop Lloyd speaks on the 1st and 3rd, and Pastor Ken 2nd and 4th.
