 Bishop Carol Phyllis (Hewitt) Lloyd was born April 10, 1941, in Bridgeport, CT, to Mr. Phillip Hewitt West and the late Evang. Viola Hewitt Washington. She is the third of seven children.

Bishop was baptized at the early age of 8 and at the age of 28 (1969), she received the Holy Ghost and started her new life in Christ.

Bishop Lloyd dropped out of school in the 10th grade, however, she went back to school in 1980 and completed her education and received her GED high school diploma. Bishop Lloyd continued to furthered her education in studies at Housatonic Community Collage, Bethel Bible Institute of Jamaica New York, Aenon Bible College of Indianapolis IN, and Foundation Bible Institute Bpt CT where she received an Associate and was the valedictorian for the class 2000.


During her Thirty eight years at Gethsemane Church of Christ, Bishop Lloyd worked in many areas, young people president, missionary sec., vice pres., and pres., a deaconess, trustee board member, Sunday school teacher, assistant superintendent and superintendent, pastor aide president, Building fund, Treasurer, director and choir pres., musician, usher president, young people counselor. She accepts the great position and challenges to lead God’s people through His name to victory.


In 1979, Bishop acknowledged and accepted her calling to preach while at Gethsemane.


May 1990 after the death of Pastor Jenkins, She became pastor of Gethsemane Church of Christ and was ordained in July 1992.


She is the wife of William Lloyd Jr., and from that union was born two daughters Mrs. Loretta Denise Ebron and Mrs. Rolanda Venise Murphy. She also has two stepchildren Mrs. Phyllis Duncan and Karsene Lloyd, her nephew Ja’maine P. Hewitt, whom she raised as her son. She has two son in-laws, two daughter in law, and eleven grandchildren.


Prior to becoming a full time Pastor at Gethsemane Church of Christ in 1990, Bishop Lloyd worked for numerous companies, Interstate Industrial Uniform for 12 years in the capacity of a supervisor, Warnaco for 14 years, Bridgeport Community Health Center. Worked with the school system on the Executive Board in Parent Advisory Council, and The East Community Council. Bishop Lloyd retired as an Auditor from Warnaco, after a car accident, June 10, 1986.

Bishop Lloyd received many achievement awards and citations for her great work in the community.


In December 31, 2003 the Lord had lead Bishop Lloyd to leave the PAW (Pentecostal Assemblies of the World) and to become founder of Gethsemane Deliverance Church of Christ International Apostolic Faith, Inc.


In 2004 Pastor Carol P. Lloyd was ordained as Bishop Carol P. Lloyd


Bishop Lloyd is the voice CPL Ministries on WDJZ 1530 AM radio in Bridgeport Ct where she plays great gospel music and words of inspiration to the listening audience for the past five years. Program times Sundays 7:30am to 8:30am and Monday to Wednesday 1:30pm to 2:30pm. She is the founder and CEO of “CPL Ministries and host of “Woman of Standard” on Cable Channel 77 in Bridgeport CT.


On March 2nd 2008 Bishop Lloyd officially merged Gethsemane Church of Deliverance with Kingdom Builders to form one vibrant united church. The merged churches now operate under the new name of United Kingdom International Ministries located in Bridgeport, CT.
